Shoot prep

Your shoot is booked.

Use this checklist to make sure your home is ready for the best possible results.

Before Shoot Day

Complete these in the days leading up to your shoot.

  • Declutter all countertops and surfaces
Remove everything that doesn't belong: mail, keys, small appliances, toiletries. Less is always more in photos.
  • Remove personal photos and excess wall décor (Optional but suggested)
Neutral spaces feel larger and appeal to more buyers.
  • Deep clean the entire home
Pay special attention to kitchens and bathrooms.
  • Clean all mirrors, windows, and glass surfaces
These reflect light and are very noticeable in photos when smudged.
  • Put away all pet items
Bowls, beds, toys, litter boxes — store them out of sight for the shoot.
  • Empty all trash cans
    Including bathrooms, bedrooms, and kitchen.
  • Clear the garage of clutter if it will be photographed
A tidy garage adds value. A cluttered one detracts from it.
  • Move extra vehicles off the driveway and street in front
We want a clean exterior shots — ideally no cars in the driveway or street front.
  • Make sure all light bulbs are working
A well lit house photographs well. Replace faulty bulbs now to avoid last minute scrambles.

Morning of Your Shoot

Final touches before we arrive.

  • Open all blinds and curtains fully
Natural light is everything. Open every window treatment in every room.
  • Turn on every light in the home
Lamps, overhead lights, under-cabinet lighting — all of it on.
  • Turn off all ceiling fans
Fans blur in photos and look distracting.
  • Remove refrigerator magnets and items from fridge doors
Clean fridge fronts photograph much better.
  • Clear bathroom counters completely
A soap dispenser and a folded towel is all that should remain.
  • Close all toilet lids
Simple detail — makes a noticeable difference.
  • Fluff couch cushions and straighten throw pillows
Arrange furniture as you would for guests.
  • Sweep the front porch and entry
First impressions start at the front door.
  • Remove cars, bikes, and hoses from view
Check the front and back yard for anything that clutters the exterior.
  • Make all beds with clean, wrinkle-free linens
    Bedrooms should look hotel-ready.

We want to avoid this for everyone involved, which is why we send this guide in advance. If you have any concerns about readiness before your shoot day, please contact your agent right away.
